Your garden stays on your device

Last updated 2 November 2026

Posy is a game. It collects no data, keeps no account, and sends nothing about you anywhere. This page says what the app does on your device and what it asks the device for, so that the short version can be checked.

What Posy does not do

  • No personal data is collected, stored by us, or shared. The App Store's privacy label for Posy reads Data Not Collected.
  • No account, no sign-in, no email address, no password.
  • No analytics, no advertising, no tracking, no advertising identifier.
  • No third-party code or services inside the app.
  • No server of ours: the game needs no internet connection and works offline.

What stays on your device

Your saved games (up to three, with the nightly backups each keeps), your settings (sound levels, haptics, text size, the Surprise me switch for the breeding odds), the name you type for playing together, a random token your device makes once so a friend's device can remember whether you were a helper or a co-owner, and the crash reports below are stored only on your iPhone or iPad, in the app's own storage, and are deleted with the app. If you use iCloud backup, Apple backs them up as part of your device backup under Apple's terms; Posy itself does not use iCloud.

Crash and hang reports

If Posy crashes or hangs, iOS writes a report of it. Posy asks the system for those reports (Apple's MetricKit) and keeps the newest twenty on your device, so that a crash you tell us about can be understood. The app sends them nowhere. The same reports reach us only through Apple, and only if you have chosen to share analytics with app developers (Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements › Share With App Developers). A report describes what the app was doing when it crashed, not you.

Game Center

If you are signed in to Game Center on your device, Posy reports the achievements you earn to Game Center after each night's save, so they show in Game Center as well as in the journal. That is between your device and Apple, under Apple's terms; we see none of it. Posy never asks you to sign in, and if you are not signed in, nothing is sent.

Playing together nearby

Up to three friends can join your shop from their own devices nearby, over the local network only (Wi-Fi, or peer-to-peer Wi-Fi between the devices), which iOS asks you to allow once. Your device announces an open shop under a random number, never your name or your device's name. A friend joins by tapping the same four pictures you see; the connection is encrypted with a key made from that code, so only a device that was shown it can connect. While you play together, your game's state and the names your friends typed travel between the devices and nowhere else. Closing the shop to friends ends all of it. You can withdraw the permission in Settings › Privacy & Security › Local Network.

Moving a game to another device

You can move a saved game to another phone or iPad. By code: the two devices find each other on the local network, the connection is encrypted with a key made from the six-letter code, and nothing of the game is sent until you say yes on the sending phone. As a file: Posy hands a .posy file to the share sheet, and you choose where it goes (AirDrop, Messages, Mail, Files). Either way the game goes from your device to your other device and never through us. With it go the settings that belong to the game (the name friends see, text size, haptics, sound); your device's co-op token and the roles you gave friends never travel.

Photo mode

Photo mode saves a picture of your village to your Photos library. The first time, iOS asks you to allow Posy to add to Photos. Posy never reads your library; the permission it asks for only lets it add pictures. You can withdraw it in Settings › Privacy & Security › Photos.

Children

Posy is rated 4+. Because it collects no data, it collects none from children either.

Changes

If a future version of Posy ever changes any of this (for example an optional cloud sync of saves), this page will say so before that version is released, with the date at the top updated.

Email

If you write to us, your email address and what you wrote are used to answer you and kept while the matter is open; they are not added to any list and not shared.
